A Willow Alexander handyman fitting fixtures in a bathroom
Service · Bathroom & Plumbing Fittings

Toilet seats, shower screens, taps, shower rails, towel rails and tired silicone. The fittings-and-fixtures end of plumbing — the jobs too small to interest a plumber and too fiddly to enjoy on a Sunday.

Vetted, trusted tradesmen

Every handyman is DBS-checked, reference-verified and uniformed before they work in your home.

A fixed price, agreed first

You know what the job costs before we pick up a tool. No hourly meter, no surprise on the invoice.

Every tool on the van

A fully stocked electric van means the whole list gets done in one visit, not spread across three appointments.

How it works

Water off, job done, water tested.

Bathroom work is unforgiving: a fitting that's nearly tight will leak, and silicone applied over damp will lift within a month. The care is all in the preparation and the testing.

Isolate and strip out

Water isolated at the nearest valve, the old fitting removed cleanly, and the surfaces underneath cleaned back rather than covered over.

Fitted and sealed

New washers and seals as standard, the fitting brought up properly tight, and fresh sanitary-grade silicone applied to a clean, dry surface.

Run and checked

Water back on and the fitting run under pressure while we watch the joints. We don't pack up until it's been running dry for a good while.

What we cover

Fittings and fixtures, not first fix.

We handle the replace-and-repair end of bathroom work. Anything notifiable, gas, or needing pipework moved is a plumber's job and we'll say so.

Toilet seats & cisterns

Seats replaced and sat level, loose pans re-fixed, flush mechanisms and fill valves swapped when the cistern runs on or won't fill.

Taps & shower heads

Dripping taps re-washered or replaced like-for-like, mixer taps swapped, and limescaled shower heads and hoses renewed.

Shower screens & doors

New screens fitted plumb and sealed, existing doors re-aligned so they run true, worn seal strips replaced to stop water escaping onto the floor.

Re-sealing & grout

Old silicone cut out completely, the joint cleaned and dried, and fresh sanitary-grade sealant run around baths, basins and shower trays. Failing grout raked and renewed.

Rails, cabinets & accessories

Towel rails, grab rails, shower rails, mirrored cabinets, shelves and toilet-roll holders, fixed securely into tile and into whatever is behind it.

Waste & trap repairs

Leaking traps, loose waste connections and slow-draining basins cleared and resealed, with the cupboard underneath dried out and checked.

When it's right

Too small for a plumber. Too annoying to ignore.

These are the jobs that sit on the list for months because they're not quite worth a call-out on their own. Grouped together, they're a straightforward half day.

The bathroom refresh

New seat, new taps, re-sealed bath, fresh grout and a new shower head. Nothing structural, but the room looks and feels renewed for a fraction of a refit.

Between tenancies

Mouldy sealant, a cracked seat and a dripping tap are on nearly every check-out report. All of it resolved in one visit before the next tenant views.

Accessibility fittings

Grab rails and support handles fitted securely into solid backing, so they hold under real load rather than just looking the part.

How we work

Vetted tradesmen. Real insurance. Fixed prices.

The questions most people ask before letting a tradesman near their plumbing. Answered upfront.

Vetted and uniformed

Every handyman is DBS-checked, reference-verified and turns up in Willow Alexander uniform in a branded van. You know who's at the door before you open it.

Fully insured

Comprehensive public liability and accidental-damage cover on every visit. Certificates available on request, and standard issue for letting agents who ask.

Priced, not metered

You get a figure for the work before we start. If the job turns out to be bigger than the photos suggested, we stop and tell you rather than quietly running up the clock.

Cleared up properly

Dust sheets down, offcuts and packaging taken away, and the floor left as we found it. The job isn't done until the room is usable again.

A direct line to price a dripping tap, a tired shower screen, or a bathroom's worth of small jobs.

How it's priced

One fitting, or the whole bathroom's list.

Bathroom jobs are small individually and add up quickly, so grouping them into one visit is nearly always the cheaper route.

Single fittingRecommended

One tap, one seat, one shower rail. A fixed price for the job, with the part supplied by you or sourced by us at cost.

Re-seal & refresh

Bath, basin and shower re-sealed, grout renewed and the shower head replaced. Half a day, and the room looks years younger.

Half or full day

The whole bathroom list at once, or the same jobs across several bathrooms in one property. The best value by some distance.

We're not a gas or notifiable-works trade. Boilers, gas appliances and moving pipework need a registered plumber or Gas Safe engineer, and we'll tell you before you book, not after.

Replaced my shower curtain and rail with a glass screen, easy to book and cleared up after the job was finished. Would use again for other bits that are outside of my DIY capabilities.

Craig Clipper

What a lovely man! Thank you for coming to fix my skirting boards and with a smile. I'll be using Willow Alexander again and just saw they clean windows too!

“Low-tox, plant-based products and a fully electric fleet. A lighter footprint, for the same high standard of clean.”

Questions

Things people often ask.

Are you plumbers?
No, and we're clear about that. We're a handyman service that handles the fittings-and-fixtures end of plumbing: taps, seats, screens, rails, traps and sealing. Anything involving gas, a boiler, or altering pipework needs a registered plumber or Gas Safe engineer, and we'll tell you that before you book.
Can you fix a dripping tap?
Yes, and it's one of the most common jobs we're called for. Most drips are a perished washer or cartridge and are a quick fix. If the tap body itself is worn or badly limescaled, replacement is usually better value than repeated repairs, and we'll tell you which yours is.
How long does silicone take to dry?
Touch-dry within an hour, but leave it a full 24 hours before using the bath or shower. Using it too early is the single most common reason sealant fails early, so it's worth the wait.
Why does my bathroom sealant keep going black?
Because it's mould growing in the silicone itself, which no amount of cleaning will remove once it's in there. The fix is to cut the old bead out completely, clean and fully dry the joint, and apply fresh sanitary-grade sealant containing a fungicide. Applying new silicone over old is what causes it to come back within weeks.
Can you replace a toilet seat?
Yes. It sounds trivial until you meet the corroded fixings underneath, which is exactly why people call us. We'll get the old one off without damaging the pan and fit the new one level and tight.
Do you supply the parts?
Either way. Taps, seats and screens vary enormously in style, so most people choose their own. If you'd prefer, we'll source something suitable and pass it on at cost, itemised on the quote.
Can you fit a grab rail for someone with limited mobility?
Yes, and we'll fix it into something that will genuinely hold — a stud, solid masonry, or a proper backing plate. A grab rail fixed into bare plasterboard will pull out under real load, which defeats the entire point of fitting one.
